Hoffman to the isles at 6.5 per for 7 years - dpeltsman
Skinner gets 9 last summer and hoffman will take 6.5 this summer?
You have a huge headache already in trying to re-sign barzal.
I’d love to see montreal get really serious and offer him 12 x 7.
Sure you could take draft picks...no guarantees there...plus it sets you back about 4/5 years in development time.
If barzal does leave...that would be absolutely soul crushing. |

If there's indeed a compliance buyout for each team and Lucic gets the axe, I could see Calgary making a run to bolster that top 6. Hard pass on Hall for 9 or 10 per. |

They only way Hoffman signs for 6 is if the cap drops. |

Tough to say what teams want him, Hoffman’s girlfriend appears to be a little psycho.
That was the main reason Ottawa traded him for next to nothing and San Jose flipped him for next to nothing |

Signing UFA wingers almost never works. He'll be 31 first year of the contract. |

Hoffman is younger and a different pedigree than Ladd was when he was signed by snow. |

Contract should not exceed 3 years max, $5.5m. Maybe Detroit if he wants plenty of ice time. |

Considering Taylor Hall won't take my $9M, I gladly give Hoff 6.

Holland isn't running (ruining) the Red Wings anymore. The days of Detroit overpaying aging, declining players to long term contracts are over. Hoffman will be looking for a retirement contract. He won't get that from Yzerman. His scoring will likely fall off a cliff in year 2 or 3 of his deal. GM's should stay away from signing Hoffman but we know they won't. Fans of the team Hoffman signs with will say it's a steal while everyone else shakes their heads. Cheer for the laundry. Selective justification. My team rules and yours doesn't. Yadda yadda yadda... |

And for that you will have to pay him.
And not 6.5 either. |

If I'm Hoffman, and I am confident in my ability, I might take a 1 year deal to fit under the reduced cap for next season and then explore my options when the Cap is increased due to the Seattle expansion fee and the new TV deal...Either way, he won't be a Shark |

UFA’s in their prime never take 1 year deals...they blow out a knee or get a serious concussion and then what...lose out on 50 million or more?!
Yeah that’s never going to happen.
He’s getting 7 years...not a day less. |

Wild prediction here... all say that the Panthers will keep Dadonov... I have a feeling they keep Hoffman instead on a 5 years 6 million deal |

Problem is in 2 years he's 32. He's gotta take the 7 year deal now. |

Panthers are cutting $$$. We'll see. |

When i see panthers home games on my tv package...most of the lower level seats between the blue lines are empty...
Their tv broadcaster airs commercials for ridiculously cheap ticket prices...and they include food and parking.
Panthers basically have to pay people to come watch their games...and that’s despite the fact that their team is fairly decent.
Let’s face it...it’s a horrible hockey market.
It won’t be there for long...5 years max. |
